The JCapper Intranet Site
The new JCapper Intranet Site and Message Board is now up and running. You can register, log in, read the forums,
and make posts. You will find that your new JCapper Message Board user account also gets you access to the latest version of the program.
If you haven't already done so, feel free to click one of the Register links to self register and create a new account for yourself.
I still manually approve new user accounts. If you do self register, be aware that it might take me a day or two to notice your new registration
and get you activated. If you don't feel like waiting for me to do that then drop me an email at:

Now Mozilla Firefox Friendly: No Longer Requires Internet Explorer (5.0 or Later)
I know that lots of you have migrated away from IE to Firefox. The JCapper Intranet Site has a protective data layer that
exists between the HTML that you see on your screen and the data that resides in the database. I've recently modified the
interact with the database (log in and post) (or log in and download) using either Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. I've also
tested the site using Google's new Chrome browser; everything appears to work just fine there.
JCapper 2008 (90 Day Demo Version)
A Demo Version of JCapper 2008 is now available. You can request a demo by visiting
http://www.JCapper.com and clicking on the link labeled 90 Day Free Demo found on the upper right hand side of the page.
You'll find the Demo Version download link in the Downloads & Tech Support section of the JCapper Intranet Site.
A couple of notes before you do the install:
1. You will need to contact me first before you can run JCapper2008. I will need to create (and activate) BOTH a JCapper Message Board
AND a JCapper program user account for you. The Message Board user account is so that you can log into the Downloads area of the JCapper
site. The JCapper Program user account allows you to log into the program itself after you install it.
The demo runs for 90 days. If you need more time than that - contact me. I'm usually pretty reasonable when it comes to things
The demo is restricted in that you can't use the program to run same day race reports for live play. But you CAN use the
demo version to use your own Bris & TSN data and results files to build a database. You will be able to use the Data Window to
run queries against that database. You will be able to use the UDM Wizard to create your own UDMs. You will be able to load JCapper.DAT
files into the program and run Calc Races routines - which WILL enable you to see race day reports (with results on them) for prior
days. You WILL have access to the Help Docs and Podcasts at JCapper.com. If you spend some time with the demo you should have
every opportunity to decide for yourself whether or not JCapper is right for you. If at any time you decide to buy the program, then
contact me, and I will activate your user account so that you can have FULL access to ALL areas of the program - and use it to run
same day race reports for live play.
Marketing and current pricing information can be found inside the JCapper Intranet Site and at JCapper.com.
2. Before doing the demo install, read the download instructions all the way through to the end. That'll save you (and me) some
JCapper 2008 (Registered Program version)
The initial version of JCapper2008 is now available. You'll find a download link in the Downloads section of the JCapper Intranet Site.
A couple of notes before you do the install:
1. You need to be a JCapper2007 Registered Program Owner in order to run JCapper2008.
If you are an owner of the original program but not JCapper2007 you'll need to contact me first so that I can activate your
userid in the 2008 program. Marketing and current pricing information can be found inside the JCapper Intranet Site and at JCapper.com.

The Old JCapper Message Board
The Old JCapper Message Board is currently unavailable. In case you did not know, somebody managed to hack the Invision
Power Board - specifically they were able to use a strategy called a "SQL injection attack" to insert malicious code into
the MySQL database used by the Invision Power Board. I have taken the board down rather than put you guys at risk.
Just like before, after you self register, I'll need to manually approve each new user account before you can log in and post. Unlike before,
because this version of the JCapper Message Board is my own creation (and not someone else's canned message board.)
I was able to code out/create a data layer between HTML that you see and the database in such a way that SHOULD
pretty much stop any attempts at SQL Injection attacks from spambots and hackers dead in their tracks. I really think
that the branding of the old board itself was a major factor in attracting all of that unwanted attention.
The new board doesn't have any widely known branding. And so far it's proving not to be a target like the old board was.
I believe these attacks were not directed at me personally or my JCapper business. Rather, they appear entirely attracted
by the branding of the Invision Power Board that I was using.
I have been working almost 'round the clock to get this project up and running. And I have been making significant progress.
Update about the bots
I'm happy to report that since implementing the new board there has been only one confirmed instance of an ad-bot attempting to register
and post spam links to ad sites. I'm happy to report that the data layer detected and thwarted the attack. At this point (Sept, 2008) I'm
pretty much convinced that the old board's product branding - not JCapper - was what was attracting the bots.
You guys are about the best group of customers on the planet. THANK YOU for your patience and your business and let me know if there's
anything I can do for you.
